Painting

Painted in 1841 for Thomas Baring (1799-1873), British banker and politician, retouched in 1853 ;in the collection of Ralph Brockland (1803-1892), in 1886 ; then in the collection of his son Ralph Brockland (1839-1921). Purchased by Christopher Forbes in 1985 ; Gift from the Forbes family, in honour of Christopher Forbes, to the American Friends of the Louvre in 2011, on loan by the American Friends of the Louvre to the musée du Louvre in 2011
